For prop trading firms
Your own MT5 licence for your prop trading firm
Since 2024 MetaQuotes has cut off prop firms that ran MT5 through third parties. The firms that came back did it with their own company and a direct licence. We set that up for you.
Updated
- Company built for the MetaQuotes review
- Saint Lucia, Comoros or regulated routes
- Website and PSP set-up checked
- Support until MT5 approval
Prop trading firms regain MetaTrader 5 by applying for a direct MT5 licence in their own company, most often a Saint Lucia IBC with a legal opinion, with clear ownership, a physical address, banking and payment providers and a transparent website.
What happened
Why prop firms lost MT5, and how they get it back
In early 2024 MetaQuotes began terminating platform access for prop trading firms that used MetaTrader through brokers or white-label arrangements without a direct agreement. Many firms had to move to other platforms overnight.
The path back is a direct MT5 licence in the prop firm's own company. MetaQuotes then reviews that company like any other applicant: ownership down to the UBO, registered and physical address, permitted activities, a corporate bank account and a transparent website. Several well-known prop firms regained MT5 this way in 2025, many with a Saint Lucia company.
What MetaQuotes looks at
Points prop firms must get right
Business model clarity
Describe your evaluation model, simulated versus live trading and payouts consistently across the website, terms and application. Vague or inconsistent descriptions are a frequent cause of follow-up questions.
- A company established for trading or financial services, not just "education" or "evaluation services"
- A legal opinion or licence confirming the company may carry out these activities
- Clear ownership, with the UBO verified through SumSub
- A physical address with certified proof
- A corporate bank account and reference letter, plus PSP arrangements for challenge fees and payouts
- A website that shows the company name, addresses, contacts, risk warning and jurisdiction disclaimer, and explains the business model transparently
Which route suits a prop firm?
| Route | Good for | Consider |
|---|---|---|
| Saint Lucia IBC | Fastest return to MT5, lean structure | No FX licence; banking needs good preparation |
| Comoros (Mwali) licence | A licence on the website quickly | Limited recognition |
| Mauritius or Bahamas | Firms adding brokerage services | Substance, capital and months of processing |
Prop firms: questions
Can a prop firm get an MT5 licence directly?
Yes, through its own company. MetaQuotes reviews the company against the same checklist as brokers. See requirements.
Does a prop firm need an FX licence?
Not necessarily. A Saint Lucia IBC with suitable objects and a legal opinion is the most common route for prop firms.
Can you help with payments?
Yes. We assist with corporate bank accounts and payment providers that work with prop firms, subject to their own onboarding decisions.
