How do I get an MT5 licence from MetaQuotes?
Your company applies directly to MetaQuotes. It must be established for trading, forex or brokerage activities, hold a corporate bank account, own a compliant website and provide ten documents, including registers, address proofs and SumSub verification. See requirements.
Can an individual get an MT5 licence?
No. MetaQuotes licenses companies. You need a company with suitable objects or an FX licence.
Can I still get an MT4 licence?
No. MetaQuotes no longer sells new MT4 licences; new applicants receive MT5.
How long does it take to get an MT5 licence?
With a Saint Lucia IBC, the company and file can be ready in about two weeks; with a Comoros licence in about three to four weeks; regulated licences take several months. MetaQuotes review time comes on top.
Why does MetaQuotes reject applications?
Most often: unclear ownership, missing physical address proof, no bank letter, a website that does not match the documents, or company objects that do not cover trading activities.
Forex licences & jurisdictions
Do I need a forex licence to get MT5?
Not necessarily. A Saint Lucia IBC with a legal opinion can meet the MetaQuotes activity requirement. A licence improves your standing with banks, liquidity providers and clients.
Which is the best jurisdiction for a forex licence?
It depends on your goals. Mauritius and the Bahamas are regulated and well recognised; Comoros is fast but has limited recognition; Saint Lucia is fastest without a licence. See the comparison.
Are Comoros forex licences legitimate?
They are issued by the Mwali or Anjouan island authorities. The Central Bank of the Comoros has stated (June 2022, republished December 2025) that such island approvals have no legal effect in the Union, and many banks and platforms do not accept them. We present them as offshore licences with that limitation and explain it in writing before any engagement.
Can I serve EU, UK or US clients?
Not with these licences. Those markets require local authorisation. Your website must state the jurisdictions you do not serve.
